Eye Associates Northwest brings together seventeen physicians, optometrists, and licensed opticians across five clinics in Ballard, Edmonds, First Hill, Kirkland, and Northgate. Cataract, glaucoma, and eyelid procedures are performed at our own outpatient surgery center at the Ballard clinic, a facility built solely for eye surgery rather than shared across specialties.
From pediatric exams to oculofacial plastic surgery, our providers work as one practice, so patients can move between routine care and specialty treatment without changing clinics.

Blurred Vision
Blurred vision can come from a refractive error, cataracts, dry eye, or conditions affecting the cornea or retina, such as macular degeneration or diabetic eye disease. A full eye exam is the best way to find the cause, and sudden blurring should be checked right away.
Dry Eyes
Dry eye occurs when your eyes don’t make enough tears or the tears evaporate too quickly. It can cause stinging, burning, a gritty feeling, fluctuating vision, and even watery eyes. A full evaluation can pinpoint the cause so treatment goes beyond over-the-counter drops.
Eyelid Issues
Drooping, twitching, or inflamed eyelids can affect comfort, appearance, and sometimes your vision. Eyelids that block your sight, won’t close fully, or develop new growths should be checked. Our oculofacial surgeon can treat both the medical and cosmetic concerns.
Night Driving Problems
Glare, halos, or trouble seeing at night, especially around oncoming headlights, are common early signs of cataracts. They can also come from dry eye, a change in your prescription, or corneal irregularities. A comprehensive exam can pinpoint the cause.

Seeing halos or starbursts around lights, especially at night, is a common early sign of cataracts. It can also point to dry eye, corneal irregularities, or other changes in the eye, so it’s worth getting evaluated rather than waiting it out.
Astigmatism
Astigmatism is a common refractive error caused by an irregular curve in the cornea or lens, which can make vision blurry or distorted at any distance. Depending on your eyes, glasses, contacts, laser vision correction, or a procedure like EVO ICL may fit best. If you’re having cataract surgery, a toric lens can correct astigmatism at the same time.
Distance Vision Problems
If objects far away look blurry while close objects stay clear, nearsightedness is the likely cause, correctable with glasses, contacts, or a vision correction procedure.
Trouble Reading
Difficulty reading up close, especially if it has worsened with age, is usually presbyopia, a natural change in the eye’s focusing ability.
